7-Year-Old Surfer Making Big Splash

HALEIWA, Hawaii (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A 7-year-old surfer in Haleiwa, Hawaii, is making a big splash in the surf world.

That’s because Kalani David is about to be officially recognized as the youngest surfer to ride a wave more than 10- feet-high, a feat he first accomplished at the tender age of 5.

Kalini’s Dad, David David (sic), says his son has always been attracted to water and started surfing when he was 18 months old.

Now, he says the small fry surfer has so much raw talent that the pro surfers run down the beach to see him strut his stuff on the waves.

Naturally, Kalani’s parents are proud of their son’s achievements but they have laid down some ground rules about the water: School comes first and, as David puts it, “If the waves are bigger than five feet, you must watch them for 30 minutes before going in.”

Also, David is sure his son will eventually turn pro but insists he wants Kalani to view surfing as “more spiritual than anything.”
