Survey Reveals Lame Sick Day Excuses

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There’s a 43 percent chance you’ll give a fake excuse to your boss the next time you phone in sick, but the odds are you’ll choose a better one than most people.

According to a new survey of hiring managers and employees from around the U.S. by, 43 percent of workers say they called in sick with fake excuses over the past 12 months.

According to the managers, some of the most outlandish excuses for calling in sick were...

  • “I’m too fat to get into my work pants.”

  • “The ghosts in my house kept me up all night.”

  • “My cow bit me.”

  • “My son accidentally fell asleep next to wet cement in our backyard. His foot fell in and we can’t get it out.”

  • Finally, there was the employee who put his faith in the Almighty rather than alarm clocks and excused himself by saying, “God didn’t wake me.”
