Sheehan Protest Putting Crawford, Texas, On The Map

CRAWFORD, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Grieving mother Cindy Sheehan’s protest in Crawford, Texas, is putting the town on the map in more ways than one.

Authors of the book Weird Texas (Sterling) – a collection of legends, folklore and bizarre sights around the Lone Star State – say until now, nothing unusual has happened in the area.

Co-author Wesley Treat says south of Crawford in Blevins, there’s the grave of James Lafayette Courtney, one of the men reputed to be Jesse James.

And to the southeast, in Hearne, there’s the grave of Rosie Lee Moore, the last real woman to play Aunt Jemima.

No one knows how long the anti-Iraq war protest site will draw attention to Crawford which Treat says “is smack dab in the middle of a roadside bald spot, but you could make some good day trips from there.”
