Ad Men Pick ‘My Bologna Has A First Name’ As Top Jingle Of All Time

SAN MATEO, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Here’s a noteworthy musical achievement: The Oscar Mayer song that goes My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R ... has been chosen the greatest jingle of all time.

At least that’s the tune being sung by branding expert Eric Swartz who compiled the best jingles list by surveying ad industry insiders.

The “Oscar Mayer Jingle” beat out Alka Seltzer’s “Plop Plop Fizz Fizz,” and State Farm Insurance’s “Like A Good Neighbor, State Farm is there.”

More than 30 jingles made the list, mostly from the ’60s and ’70s and Swartz says that’s because there were some great musicians in the jingle industry back then, including Barry Manilow.

The complete list appears at but Swartz warns that once people remember all the songs “they won’t be able to get them out of their heads.”
