Competitive Eater’s Hobby Grosses Out His Roommate

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – At 5-foot 10-inches and 170 pounds, Tim Janus is the picture of good health. But truth be told, he binges at home.

Janus is a competitive eater who used to eat 11 pounds of cottage cheese, pasta and bananas washed down with a gallon of water four to five times a week.

That is, until fellow champion eater Takeru Kobayashi taught him how to train on five-pound meals.

Although Janus knows his female roommate doesn’t like to watch him gurgitate, he insists he must do it to keep his stomach stretched.

So far, the stomach-churning binges have paid off: He’s won money at consuming contests like the US Open of Competitive Eating, which airs on ESPN starting Thursday (Jul. 28).

Janus began eating competitively just over a year ago – always with a painted face, by the way – and is now the third leading money-earner in the circuit.

But what really inspires this 28-year-old to repeatedly stuff his face? He jokes, “I tell everyone I did it to impress Jodie Foster.”
