Mourning Putting Down Basketball, Picking Up Remote For Summer

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – What does a NBA basketball player do in the off season? Alonzo Mourning plans to get a lot of rest.

The Miami Heat center says the rigors of an 82-game regular season and roughly two-month playoff run have left him “really tired” and he says all he wants to do now is recharge.

Mourning says he hasn’t picked up a basketball since the Heat’s season ended three weeks ago and doesn’t plan to for a while.

Still, that doesn’t mean he’ll spend the whole summer as a couch potato downing daiquiris and margaritas.

He says he’ll do yoga, take cycling classes and most importantly, spend time raising awareness about chronic kidney disease – something that nearly derailed his career when he was diagnosed with it five years ago

Mourning is urging others to get checked by their doctor for the life-threatening disease.
