Sharon Lawrence: ‘Desperate’ To Celebrate July 4

SAG HARBOR, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might be kicking back on July 4 but Sharon Lawrence will be kicking up her heels.

The Desperate Housewives cast member will be spending Independence Day dancing up a storm on stage in Washington D.C. as part of the Capitol’s fireworks and festivities.

Lawrence is proud to be a patriot and dates her appreciation of the founding fathers back to a 1970s musical, 1776, which she credits for explaining the human element in creating a new country.

She is also excited to be celebrating the day on stage by singing flag-wavers like “You’re A Grand Old Flag,” and a tune from the musical, Barnum, called “Come Follow The Band.”

Sadly for Desperate Housewives fans, Lawrence’s dancing shoes aren’t the same as the high heels she wore to walk on the back of actor Steven Culp on the show.

Still, she’s looking forward to the Washington D.C. gala because she considers it to be a “well-produced fun version of Americana entertainment.”

A Capitol Fourth will air July 4 on PBS from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET.
