Soap Star Dishes Dirt About Biz In Novel Way

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Former soap opera star Finola Hughes is dishing the dirt about the business in a novel way – literally.

The former General Hospital and All My Children cast member is about to publish Soapsuds (Ballantine), a novel about a British actress overwhelmed by stardom on her first American soap.

Although she started writing the book back in 1993 as a collection of funny stories from her General Hospital days, she decided to turn her anecdotes into a tale insiders describe as “over-the-top.”

Hughes insists the characters are “not thinly veiled portraits” of the people she’s worked with but admits everything is “an amalgamation” of her experiences “with a pinch of artistic license and exaggeration.”

But while Hughes insists she’s under no risk of retaliation from ex-costars who might see themselves in the novel, she playfully adds, “It’s possible I may not be asked to be on a soap again.”

Soapsuds hits stores on June 14.
