VH-1 Twists Dee Snider’s Arm To Appear In Passover Special

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Passover is a heavy holiday for Jews so maybe it makes sense to celebrate it with heavy metal stars.

That’s what the VH-1 Classic cable network is doing Saturday (Apr. 24) with Matzo And Metal: A Very Classic Passover, a special featuring Jewish hard rockers like Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Twisted Sister lead singer Dee Snider ruminating on the holiday.

Snider is “half-Jewish,” but admits he “never experienced anything Jewish” in his life – “except for Jewish girls” – and considered himself “the token goyim, who asks ‘What is this?’ throughout the seder.”

He was surprised to find out so many rockers are Jewish, especially Rob Zombie “because he has swastika tattoos” but is disappointed that Jane’s Addiction leader Perry Ferrell passed on the Passover special unless Robert Zimmerman – a.k.a. Bob Dylan – came on board as well.

Snider hopes the special will “demystify” Passover, but admits the holiday is “a downer because you’re supposed to remember suffering and the bitterness of life.”
