Nudist Resorts The Latest Reality Show Setting?

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Reality TV may soon be tackling the nudist life, thanks to the tabloid TV show A Current Affair.

Stephen Payne runs the Desert Shadows nudist resort in Palm Springs, California, and he says ever since a segment on the clothing-optional colony ran on the show, he has been bombarded with requests from reality show producers interested in filming a show there.

Payne claims he’s now in talks with Mark Burnett Productions, the company behind Survivor and The Apprentice, as well as Freemantle Entertainment, which produces American Idol.

However, Payne says he isn’t interested in doing a show unless it strips away false perceptions of public nudity. In his words, “The media still looks at nudity as ‘off-the- wall’ or as non-stop orgies.”

It’s a lot more common than that. As he puts it, “If I took you to a shopping mall, I could point to the first 100 people and say, ‘those are my customers.’”

The nudist resort reality show is still in discussions but Payne figures there’s a built-in audience because nude recreation is the fastest-growing segment in the travel industry.
