Fran Drescher’s Cancer Makes Fans Forget Her Voice

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Going through cancer treatment isn’t easy but it had one side benefit for Fran Drescher – it made people stop focusing on her voice.

Drescher was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000 and wrote about the experience in her 2002 best-seller, Cancer Shmancer.

Ever since she went public with her problem, fans no longer pester her with questions along the lines of “Is your voice really like a steam whistle?” and “Do you laugh like a machine gun in real life?”

Instead, her fans now tell her, “Because of you, I’m alive today.”

Drescher relishes being able to turn lemons into lemonade and feels that, as a result of the cancer, she is a better person and has a purpose in life she didn’t really have before.

She also has a new sitcom, Living With Fran, which debuts Friday (Apr. 8) on the WB network.
