The Intelligent First Aid Kit is separated into color-coded injury packs which are inserted with an audio chip that gives verbal guidance to the user about how to treat common injuries.
By pressing a button on the talking device, a step-by-step narration will instruct the user how to manage injuries ranging from breathing and heart problems, to head and spinal injuries.
Since most people dont know how to do anything more than apply a Band-Aid, invention creator and former navy medic Dave Hammond figures the device will allow anybody to help during a health crisis.
The product, which comes in English, Spanish and Chinese versions, will be featured at a Pittsburgh invention trade show in June and Hammond hopes the kit will make its way onto store shelves shortly after that.
