The ‘Beet’ Goes On In Beet-Flavored Ice Cream

FREDONIA, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An upstate New York ice cream parlor has created a flavor that’s sure to make you scream for a bottle of antacid.

The annual April Fools’ Day flavor at Aldrich’s Beef and Ice Cream Parlor is called “The Beet Goes On” and it’s made from cream, sugar and – you guessed it – pickled beets.

According to parlor owner Scott Aldrich, you’d be a fool not to try it.

Aldrich says the flavor has a subtle cherry taste that isn’t half bad, but folks may have a problem with the diced beet bits sprinkled throughout the stuff.

He’ll start dishing out free scoops of the beet batch on April 1 and he won’t stop until all 45 gallons are gone, which, surprisingly, might not be too long.

Aldrich says he’s anticipating this will be one of the best-rated flavors in his 22 years of making April Fools ice cream, beating out previous batches flavored like chicken wings, spinach and gravy.
