Father With Too Much Cologne Inspires ‘Intervention’ Reality Show

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Inspiration comes in many forms but for one reality show producer, it occurred because his dad wears too much cologne.

Sam Mettler is the producer of a new A&E reality show, Intervention, that films various kinds of addicts as they confront their demons, such as alcohol, drugs or videogames.

It’s a serious show but Mettler admits the idea was inspired by his dad’s habit of wearing too much cologne. Mettler figured an intervention was the only way to help his pop.

But after researching the 12-step process and the disease of addiction, Mettler sensed there was the potential for even greater drama than a man who wears too much aftershave, mainly because, “the people we are filming know they have a problem but don’t know how to stop.”

Intervention debuts Sunday (Mar. 6) and Mettler is proud that the show is already helping many participants take control of their lives.

Even better: Although Mettler’s dad hasn’t been featured on the series, he doesn’t wear as much cologne anymore.
