The plus-size fashion magazine, Figure, is hosting a seven-day cruise for large and lovely women sized 14-to-20 who want to learn more about roaming the runways and appearing in magazines.
Gary Dakin, the head of Ford Models plus-size division, is one of the experts who will lead workshops on the November cruise, and he says the biz is booming for bigger girls.
Besides teaching the wannabe models about the importance of well-proportioned figures, good complexions and hair, he will also run through the process of becoming a model from the first photo shoot to going on audition calls.
There will also be a lesson in runway modeling, which is meant to give the gals confidence.
Dakin says there will be no pressure to perfect a runway sashay, adding, theyre not walking the gangplank, but its not a show in Milan, either.
