Rubberneckers To Observe National Condom Week

SAUSALITO, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – National Condom Week starts Monday (Feb. 14) and one health education company claims President Bush is to blame for the lack of rubber usage lately.

Fred Mayer, of Pharmacists Planning Service, claims that Bush has been “underfunding” sex education during his administration and as a result, kids aren’t informed on how effective rubbers can be in preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.

As proof, he points to the increase in STD cases reported over the last couple of years.

He says Bush is trying to promote the idea of abstinence with American youths when in fact, “Kids are going to have sex regardless. It isn’t going to go away.”

That’s why Mayer believes having the week dedicated to rubbers will help get the word out and ultimately lead more people – young and old – to strap on the rain coat.

It will also help the cause, Mayer says, in that the celebration falls on a week in the year when sex is on the mind – it starts on Valentine’s Day and ends around the birthday of George Washington, who, according to many reports, had syphilis.
