LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Though it may seem funny, an April Fool’s Day (Apr. 1) prank can cause major damage to everyone involved.

Psychiatrist Dr. Mark Goulston says that a particularly nasty prank on someone who’s already on the edge today could lead to major trauma – both mental and physical.

He explains, “There are a lot of people walking around with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder doing everything they can not to trigger themselves. If you do something that pushes them over the edge, you run the risk that it will provoke them.”

In some instances, victims of cruel tricks have been known to attack those who’ve made them the butt of their joke. The violence results in everyone getting hurt, and presumably not much laughter.

Dr. Goulston says it’s a good rule of thumb to keep the pranks tame and silly so nobody ends up with a bruised ego or face.
