SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) In this fowl economy its even expensive to laugh.Humor consultant Malcolm Kushner has just released his annual Cost Of Laughing Index, a list of leading things that make us giggle and their costs, including admission to comedy clubs, rubber chickens, and wacky singing telegrams.
Turns out its 3.4 percent more expensive to laugh this year, mainly because of the 41 percent spike in the price of rubber chickens.
The novelties have gone from costing $51 a dozen to $72. Kushner is baffled, but blames a conspiracy by manufacturers.
He worries that hockey fans, known for throwing rubber chickens on the ice, wont have an outlet anymore and may resort to tossing live chickens mid-game.
The cost of classic nose-and-moustache Groucho glasses has also increased by 40 percent, but at least whoopee cushions have gone down by $2.40.
The fart gags are being discontinued, but their blow-out sale price isnt enough to offset the surges.
