Awards Show Won't Cut Off Speeches
Wednesday, February 24, 2010 19:35 GMT
LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) At least one awards show this season wont rush winners acceptance speeches. This Saturday (Feb. 27), original Dreamgirls actress Sheryl Lee Ralph will host the first annual DIVA Awards in Los Angeles benefitting her AIDS awareness DIVA Foundation.
The gala will honor Precious director Lee Daniels and actress MoNique for having the guts to address HIV/AIDS in their movie.
Once the winners hit the stage, Ralph says theyll have plenty of time to make acceptance speeches without being cut off.
There wont be any of that annoying, wrap it up music often heard at awards shows because for once, the more chatter the better.
Ralphs mission is to get people openly and comfortably talking about HIV/AIDS so its no longer a silent killer.
She wants young girls to know they cant just hook up and everyone to live by the motto no glove, no love.
