`Sammy Hagar' Alumni Form Own Band

Monday, February 22, 2010 17:12 GMT

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sammy Hagar’s bandmates are branching out – with no Red Rocker in sight.

On March 5-6, ALLIANCE, a group of rockers who’ve all performed with Sammy Hagar at some point, will play their first ever U.S. show at Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill in St. Louis, Missouri.

Among those in ALLIANCE is guitarist Gary Pihl, who jammed with Hagar from 1977 to 1985 before joining BOSTON.

Pihl says the alumni have played together in various combinations, so they know each other’s stylings.

While all but one no longer play for Hagar, it’s obvious they hail from the same school of rock.

Pihl says the “pounding drums” and “rock guitar groove” in their music are dead giveaways that they once played for Hagar.

However, their group manages to string together influences from all of their very different careers.

Pihl says they may turn the tables and let Sammy join THEIR band one day, bossing him around for a change.
