Absinthe: A Magical Buzz
Friday, January 29, 2010 17:11 GMT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) Absinthe may be considered the villain of liquors, but dont knock it til youve tried it.Paul Nathan, co-author of The Little Green Book Of Absinthe (Perigee), out Tuesday (Feb. 2), says the previously illegal liquor isnt as evil as people think it is.
Though many blame absinthe for a string of strange murders or Vincent Van Gogh cutting off his own ear, Nathan says the booze is totally safe.
Hes been drinking it for years and says it gives him a very clearheaded, sparkly, invigorating buzz.
Nathan has had great creative conversations with friends on absinthe but because the green stuff is strong, he recommends drinking it slowly with ice and water as mixers.
The amount of water and time between sips makes the actual flavor of the absinthe change because its oils are being released.
Nathan says that in 30 minutes, a glass could change flavors several times, from intense to bitter.
