Gay Lucha Libre wrestler “Cassandro” has been kicking butt in drag for 21 years and isn’t getting rid of his flamboyant, glittery costumes anytime soon.
He has all of his fabulous fighting get-ups custom made, and says other wrestlers are afraid of his fearlessness in the ring – not his flashiness.
He explains, “There’s nothing I won’t do once the adrenaline is flowing. I’ll jump off balconies. I’ve flown 30 feet into the audience and broken my fingers.”
Despite his penchant for being fabulous, Cassandro assures that Lucha Libre is “not a beauty pageant.”
He says those who are afraid of getting a little dirty won’t get far in the profession.
Cassandro wrestles tonight (Oct. 28) and tomorrow (Oct. 29) at Lucha VaVoom in Los Angeles. He’ll be in San Francisco Friday (Oct. 30) for a special, drag-out Halloween match.
