Don’t Blow Up An Architect’s Baby

GLASGOW, Scotland (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Nothing breaks an architect’s heart like blowing up their baby.

Seeing a building they spent years working on destroyed in seconds by a wrecking ball truly hurts, so architect John Glenday started The Rubble Club to help architects cope.

The online community allows architects to mourn over the buildings they’ve lost and say goodbye to those that are about to be demolished.

Users can share stories with other architects, and getting their feelings out in the open could help them finally come to terms with their losses.

Glenday likens watching a building get blown up to “losing a baby” since, “Chunks of an architect’s life is invested in it, so when it’s all shattered, a part of them is gone.”

He hopes the website will convince contractors to restore or add on to existing buildings rather than destroy them, thus sparing architects’ feelings.
