Many forget that companies like Disney, Nestle, Hilton, and Levi Strauss were built by loved ones and now generate more than 50 percent of America’s gross domestic product.
Nicholas says it’s a good idea for families to get in bed together – figuratively – for many reasons.
For one, families are more likely to resolve business issues faster so as to not hurt the bond between blood.
They also keep their eye on the prize to make sure the business is successful and are more trustworthy with each other because one wouldn’t want to see their mother or sister fail.
Family businesses even benefit non-relatives.
Employers usually have a closer relationship with their workers – treating them like family – which produces a more humane work environment.
