Only The Strong Lemonade Stands Survive

BERKELEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If kids want to make money with their lemonade stands this summer, they need a sweet strategy.

In this economy, slanging lemonade may be tougher than ever, so kids need to find ways to differentiate themselves from the competition.

According to Marty Nemko, author of Cool Careers For Dummies (Wiley Publishing), mini moguls should focus on customer service and find ways to engage potential patrons.

They should be personable and “nurturing” toward their customers, giving them compliments and options, like asking if they want their cups full to the brim or just below so it doesn’t spill.

That extra customer care will make them stand out.

Nemko says having the best lemonade on the block doesn’t hurt either, and advertising with cute, clever, or colorful signs could also help attract customers to their stand over others’.

If the lemonade stand business goes sour, Nemko says kids can use the summer for “career exploration” and take up internships with relatives to prepare themselves for the real world.
