‘Dancing’ Could Strain Jewel’s Marriage

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Competing on Dancing With The Stars could get Jewel’s marriage off on the wrong foot.

The singer and her real-life husband of six months, Ty Murray, are set to compete against each another on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars.

While the competition may be all in good fun, relationship expert Dr. Linda Olson says it has the potential to be a “marriage deal breaker” for Jewel and Murray.

Olson says competition is “never healthy among couples in intimate relationships” because it pits loved ones against each other.

Instead of the relationship being the “safe haven” it should be, it becomes another competition like everything else in the world.

Olson explains, “When couples compete AGAINST each other, it’s very damaging and destructive to their relationship. They should be each other’s cheerleaders, not each other’s rivals.”

She says the best bet for Jewel and Murray is to compete against every one else on the show except for each other, so things don’t get too tense at home.
