Cover Band Honors 40th Anniversary Of Beatles Rooftop Concert

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Friday (Jan. 30) marks the 40th anniversary of the day the Beatles played their famous rooftop concert on top of Apple Studios.

One cover band is celebrating the event by doing the same thing – sort of.

Members of “The Beatles U.S.” are gathering on top of a shopping center in San Diego to play Beatles classics like “Get Back,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” and “I Got A Feeling.”

Frontman Adam Gimbel admits he tried to get a real rooftop, but settled for a shopping center because there are more people to watch.

Although he has tacit approval for the Fab Four tribute, Gimbel isn’t releasing the exact time of the performance.

In fact, his only response to that question is to shout the name of Herman’s Hermits singer Peter Noone.

Gimbel hopes to recreate the part of the concert where the cops bust in and end it and admits, “If just one person is upset, that would be fun.”
