Tom Cavanagh Slangs Canadian Beer

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Tom Cavanagh misses his early acting days of slanging beer on commercials.

Cavanagh – best know for his title role on Ed – plays a guy working for a big Chicago ad agency in the new series Trust Me.

Like many up-and-coming actors, Cavanagh started his career filming TV commercials and once fronted a campaign for the Canadian Brewing company Labatt Breweries, slanging their popular Blue Light beer.

His signature line in the commercials was, “If I wanted water, I’d ask for water,” which, in his words, “Clearly mocked the American beer content versus the Canadian beer content.”

The rookie acting gig in his native Ottawa wasn’t glamorous, but Cavanagh still loved it.

He explains, “It sounds silly, but it really was great acting experience. And I’m telling you, commercial actors make handsome wages!”

Trust Me premieres tonight (Jan. 26) on TNT.
