According to New York-based sexual harassment attorney Philip Berkowitz, inappropriate behavior is rampant around Christmas time, particularly in the workplace.
Naughty acts like makeout sessions under the mistletoe, sexual advances amongst co-workers, or anything else thats romantic in nature can be construed as harassment and lead to a lawsuit.
He explains, Lets face it. Sexual harassment happens when parties happen. Theres alcohol involved and mistletoe. Many employers are worried about the potential for liability.
Berkowitz adds that in the crumbling economy, people will use office parties to blow off steam, which can lead to a few naughty moments in the supply closet.
However, sexual harassment at the office can be prevented.
Berkowitz recommends head honchos to keep an eye on things, cut off those whove had too much to drink, and to stay sober at the holiday party to make sure nothing untoward goes down.
