I’m Not A Doctor, But I Play One At Home

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Anyone can be a cold stethoscope away from being a professional fake doctor.

That’s the premise of co-author Mark Leyner’s humorous book, Let’s Play Doctor: The Instant Guide To Walking, Talking, And Probing Like A Real M.D. (Three Rivers Press), which hits shelves tomorrow (Dec. 2).

According to Leyner, being a “real fake doctor” is easy, and all you really need is the equipment, lingo, and bedside manner.

For starters, Leyner recommends getting yourself a stethoscope and keeping it chilled in the fridge to make the at-home patient treatment feel professional.

Additionally, he says a good fake doctor must talk the talk and suggests learning medical jargon from the Internet and most importantly, TV doc shows like House, ER, and Grey’s Anatomy.

Leyner also says it’s crucial to treat your patients with respect. When it comes time for them to pay their bill, it’s best to just rifle through their clothes in the exam room and pull out the cash yourself so as to avoid an “awkward conversation about money.”
