Economy Tip: Shop For Basics At Garage Sales

TORONTO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – During these tough economic times, hitting a few garage sales for goods can save you lots of dough.

According to garage sale guru Jenn Callum, garage sales are the best place to shop because you can find “just about anything.”

Callum says buyers on a tight budget can find electronics, appliances, clothing, and shoes at amazingly cheap prices.

However, not all things should be bought second-hand.

Callum explains, “Definitely never buy used undergarments at a garage sale – or anywhere else for that matter. Other personal items, like opened make-up, medications, food, pacifiers, and nipples shouldn’t be bought there either.”

The yard sale queen says the only downfall to garage sales is that they’re “a crap shoot.”

She says, “You can’t guarantee you’re going to find anything worthwhile on any given day. It’s never a predictable shopping trip. But you can’t put a dollar amount on how much you save, and haggling is perfectly acceptable.”
