BYOH: Bring Your Own Heels is the mantra for Stiletto Strength, an exercise class at New Yorks Crunch gym where women are required to work out in high heels.
Instructor Bethany Lyons says the class was created to help sore soles and explains, Women love wearing heels, but theres pain associated with them. Stiletto Strength is based on dance movements that help strengthen your feet, ankles, and posture for heel wearing.
The first part of the class is done barefoot, but then everyone puts on heels and practices the motions theyve learned.
Lyons says the high heel fitness routine isnt exclusive to women and admits a few male divas have crashed the class.
That may be due to the fun last part of the workout Lyons favorite where students get to work the gym floor like a top model.
She says, We get to strut it out catwalk style.
