Animals’ Secrets Can Save Mankind

OXFORD, ENGLAND (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Animals have deep, dark secrets that can both hurt and help humans.

John Mitchinson and John Lloyd have compiled fascinating, often unknown factoids about the animal kingdom for The Book of Animal Ignorance: Everything You Think You Know is Wrong (Harmony Books).

For example, Mitchinson reveals that there are 10 million species of beetles on Earth, which could spell trouble for humankind.

He says, “They definitely have us outnumbered. They might be up to something. Maybe they’re quietly biding their time.”

The authors say knowing strange stats about animals – like the fact that dogs can detect cancer by sniffing a person’s mouth, or that a certain type of frog harbors a painkiller that’s 6,000 times stronger than Morphine – is important to protecting human health.

Lloyd adds, “Hopefully, it gets people to pay a little more attention to all animals, not just the elephants and tigers, but worms and ants also. There are so many miracles in these creatures.”
