Philip Winchester plays the infamous island castaway on NBCs new series Crusoe, premiering tomorrow (Oct. 17).
While hes never been shipwrecked on a foreign island, Winchester did get stranded once in Billings, Montana, during a high school field trip.
He was in the band and they took a three-hour bus trip to a pep rally when bad weather forced them to seek refuge at a hotel.
He laughs, It was a week and a half of foosball, hockey, and all kinds of stuff that didnt involve schoolwork. I had it much easier than Robinson Crusoe though!
But if Winchester did find himself beached like Crusoe, he could survive.
He says, I grew up in Montana with an outdoors upbringing, so I have camping skills. I like to think I could survive but you never know.
He wouldnt be afraid of insects or animals on the island, but the loneliness would get to him.
