Debra Messing: ‘Hollywood Is A Fantasyland’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Brooklyn-born actress Debra Messing has been adjusting to life in Los Angeles for years.

The native New Yorker – known for her Emmy-winning role on Will & Grace – says life in Hollywood and L.A. can be strange.

Messing says Tinseltown is a “fantasyland” where, in her words, “It’s always sunny, and there are beautiful, skinny people everywhere.”

She says the showbiz city is full of “excessiveness,” which makes it difficult to have a normal life.

She explains, “In L.A., it’s like you’re always arriving for something. There’s a red carpet everywhere!”

Messing also finds it “weird” that there’s valet parking for everything, including the dry cleaners.

She laughs, “It’s crazy that you have to pay a guy five bucks to park your car while you pick up your clothes.”

Messing says it’s surreal glamming it up for red carpets because she feels like a kid “playing dress up.”

She plays a Hollywood ex in The Starter Wife, which premieres as a full-fledged series tonight (Oct. 10) on USA Network.
