Former Crackhead Fought Law, Law Won

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One former crackhead has learned a valuable lesson: Never try to outrun a cop.

Ron Burris got himself in a whole heap of trouble nine years ago after failing to pull over in a stolen car and leading South Carolina police on a high-speed chase that ended in a fiery shoot-out.

Video footage of the event will air on the upcoming reality show Why I Ran, premiering today (Sep. 1) on The Bio Channel, and Burris looks back on the crazy chase.

He says, “Crack cocaine had a strong hold on my life then. I didn’t want to go back to prison, and my desire to get high was bigger than my desire to pull over.”

Looking back on the footage is “sad and embarrassing” for Burris.

However, he’s learned from his brush with the law and hopes to use his experience to teach others.

He says, “I take the video to prisons to show inmates. It’s crazy. I ran because I didn’t want to go to prison, and now I go voluntarily.”
