Tony Shalhoub Not Too Confident As A Shrink

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Monk star Tony Shalhoub has been brushing up on his shrink skills, but they’re still not up to par.

Shalhoub plays obsessive compulsive detective Adrian Monk on the series, a character who is always in therapy.

If the roles were reversed and Shalhoub had to play the shrink on Monk, he admits he’d be “hard-pressed” and isn’t too confident he could pull it off.

However, Shalhoub did attempt to master his shrink skills once for a film called The Great New Wonderful.

He played an unconventional, kooky therapist and says he had a great time experiencing the other side of the shrink’s clipboard.

Shalhoub filmed the movie during a hiatus from Monk, and drew inspiration for the character from his late co-star Stanley Kamel, who played his therapist on Monk for six seasons before his untimely death this past April.

The seventh season of Monk premieres this Friday (Jul. 18) on USA Network.
