Master Cheese Carver Honors America’s Big Cheeses

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – America’s big cheeses are getting a special treat this Fourth Of July thanks to one master cheese carver.

Troy Landwehr has been commissioned by Cheez-It to honor America’s greatest patriots by carving John Trumbull’s iconic painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence from a 2,000-pound round of cheddar cheese.

Landwehr’s cheesy masterpiece will be unveiled July 4 at Independence Mall in Philadelphia, and he’s been working hard to transfer the tiny details of the painting onto the Big Cheese.

He says the toughest part is carving John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, while still trying to fit the numerous other signers in the background.

All in all, the project will take him more than 45 hours to complete, but he won’t be taking any tempting snack breaks in the process.

Although Landwehr tasted the cheese before he began carving, he resists the urge to nibble at it while he works.

He’s a bit burnt out on cheddar since working with it so much lately and says he’ll switch to eating blue cheese after he finishes the intricate carving.
