‘Top Gun’ Is No Match For The Real Thing

LANGLEY, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – High-flying Hollywood flicks like Top Gun don’t stand a chance against actually being up in the sky.

Major Paul “Max” Moga is a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and host of Showdown: Air Combat, which recreates classic dogfights with reconstructed WWI and WWII-era war planes.

Major Moga provides play-by-play commentary from a chase plane, and says, “You can’t feel the g-forces sitting on your couch, but we get as close as you can get.”

Major Moga believes Showdown: Air Combat’s fantastic mid-air fights would make a great IMAX movie.

But when it comes to the big screen, Major Moga says Hollywood doesn’t always have it right.

He says, “Hollywood glamorizes things. Fighter pilots are more professional and work harder than in the movies. And when we party, we probably do that more than Hollywood guys, too.”

Showdown: Air Combat premieres Sunday (Jun. 15) on the Military Channel.
