‘Idol’s’ David Archuleta Doesn’t Want Girlfriend Drama

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol runner- up David Archuleta isn’t interested in the drama that comes with having a girlfriend.

Archuleta – who came in second place to Idol winner David Cook at the finale last Wednesday (May 21) – says that despite his devoted teen girl following, he’s just not into having a girlfriend.

The 17-year-old teen heartthrob says he’s focusing on music for the next few years and admits that at his young age, he’s just not “mature enough to understand” lovey- dovey feelings or relationships with girls.

He’s seen enough of his high school friends go through “girlfriend drama” and wants no part in it – for now, at least.

Archuleta explains, “My friends are all depressed after relationships like, ‘Oh, man, we broke up. I’m so sad.” It bugs me and I’m like, ‘You’re 17 – get over it! Why are you so upset? You have other stuff to worry about like school. Being infatuated with someone isn’t going to help you make a living!’ I don’t want to deal with girlfriend drama for a while.”

But love isn’t totally lost with Archie.

He says he’ll have a girlfriend in a few years, once he meets the right girl, but first he has to figure out what he likes in a gal.
