‘In Plain Sight’ Actress Finds Onscreen Twin

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actress Mary McCormack’s latest role has her seeing double – of herself, that is.

McCormack – best known for her work on The West Wing – stars in a new crime drama series called In Plain Sight, in which she plays a U.S. Marshal who works in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program.

While her character’s job is far from McCormack’s acting occupation, she says there are uncanny similarities between herself and her character.

For example, her character’s name is also Mary, and she happens to be from New Jersey, McCormack’s real life home state.

TV Mary also has personality traits that resemble those of McCormack’s.

She says, “Mary [Shannon] is edgy, a little grumpy, and quick to judge. I’m all those things too. They’re not always strengths, but I’m coming clean!”

She says that both Marys have “kooky moms,” and refuse to believe in “mystical and magical” things.

She’s comfortable playing someone who’s so similar to herself and adds, “I’m happy being her for a while.”

In Plain Sight premieres June 1 on USA.
