Just ask Kate Lopresti, author of The Constant Rider Omnibus: Stories from the Public Transportation Front (Microcosm), in which she recounts weird and wacky stories from her daily bus commute in Portland, Oregon.
Lopresti says, The funny thing is every couple months something crazy that happens gets replaced by another crazy thing.
During her public transport travels, Lopresti has witnessed fights, men hitting on her with fake German resumes, and a bus driver confronting passengers after smelling marijuana, which led to a young man jumping off the bus and running.
Lopresti calls riding the bus a wealth of information for people who like to write and adds, The bus has its stock characters, like the person who sits right across from the driver and chats it up with them. Drivers call that seat the Fool Stool. Theres usually a drunk and someone sleeping too.
