Star Trek Gets An Artsy New Look

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One artist is boldly going where no other artist has gone before.

Devorah Sperber has just opened her latest art exhibit titled “Mirror Universe” at the Caren Golden Fine Art Gallery in New York, in which she re-creates images from various Star Trek series using spools of thread, two-inch pipe cleaners, and mirror panels.

Among the images Trekkies may recognize are the Starship Enterprise, its Holodeck, and Captain Kirk and Spock beaming in through the Transporter.

Though Sperber doesn’t consider herself a Trekkie, she is a fan of the Next Generation series, and hopes Trekkies come and marvel at her work.

She says, “I have a feeling they would love it. But even someone who doesn’t like Star Trek will be swayed by the meticulous craftsmanship.”

But it’s the stars of the show, like William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, that Sperber would really like to see at her gallery, because she’d like to take their picture next to her artistic rendition of them.
