Safe Sax is a line of tote bags, wallets, and cosmetic bags that display colorful condoms in sealed outer pockets.
Company co-owner Chris Wilkerson says the prophylactic purses are meant to send an obvious message of safe sex to people.
He says, We want to make people uncomfortable and present them with a fun product that will get them to talk about an issue that matters.
Among the fans of the rubber-filled accessories are sex educators, AIDS workers, and even the 60-year-old members of a bridge club in Portland, Oregon.
The bags also come in handy if unexpected sex comes up.
Wilkerson says, You can break open the seals, but only in case of emergency. If they were too easy to get into, then people will just use them in a normal sexual circumstance.
