‘Idol’ Cast-Off Finds Solace In Looking Like Leif Garrett

ELIDA, Ohio (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol cast-off Garrett Haley is proud to bare a striking resemblance to 1980s heartthrob Leif Garrett.

Haley – who was the first contestant eliminated from the Top 24 on Idol last Thursday (Feb. 21) – was constantly told by host Ryan Seacrest and the judges that he looked like a mix between Leif Garrett and 70s rocker Peter Frampton, because of his skinny frame and long, wavy, blond hair.

Haley says Idol was the first place he’d ever gotten those comparisons, and the 17-year-old singer admits he’d never heard of Leif Garrett until that point.

So Haley did what any teenager would do and “Googled” the 80s icon and Peter Frampton.

He explains, “I was hoping they were good looking guys, and that it was a good thing that I looked like them. I was pretty happy with the results. I’m happy with how I look. I like my hair. In my hometown [Elida, Ohio] not a lot of people look like me. I’m different.”

American Idol airs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on FOX.
