Charles S. Dutton Calls The Shots, No Running For Him

BALTIMORE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For his latest film, actor and director Charles S. Dutton kept the cast on track – and himself off the track!

Dutton – who’s worked in films like Rudy, A Time To Kill, and Alien 3 – directs and stars in Lifetime’s new dramatic film Racing For Time, where he plays a prison warden who creates a track running program for female inmates.

And while Dutton’s fellow castmembers Yaya DaCosta and Elizabeth Pena were busy running laps in the heat, Dutton kept cool “supervising” from his director’s chair.

Although he’s a fan of track, Dutton says he had no intention of running himself in the film, and tried to avoid pounding the pavement as much as possible.

And as the director, he even created an extra role for the movie to spare him from the track.

Dutton explains, “I hired an actor to play my character’s assistant coach. He was 20 years younger than me and did all the running in the film. The minute I met him I said, ‘I hope you know you’re the runner in this, not me.’ So he served two purposes: To add another character to the film and to save me from running!”

Racing For Time premieres this Saturday (Feb. 16) on Lifetime.
