Movie Maverick ‘Reels’ In Oscar Picks

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One film fanatic is ‘reeling’ in his picks for the 80th Annual Academy Awards (Feb. 24).

Yesterday (Jan. 22), the Oscar nominees were announced, and Jeffrey Lyons, the co-host of Lyons & Bailes Reel Talk, a nationally syndicated movie review show, has strong feelings about who will take home the trophies.

Lyons says Daniel Day Lewis “is a lock” to win Best Actor for There Will Be Blood, although he says the film is too long.

For Best Actress, Lyons believes Julie Christie will take the cake, though he’d rather see The Savages leading lady, Laura Linney, win “for reasons I can’t discuss in a family newspaper.”

Lyons believes No Country for Old Men is a shoo-in for Best Movie, calling it, “One of the greatest films of all time,” but was shocked that its main man, Josh Brolin, didn’t receive a Best Actor nod.

And Lyons already has his sights set on some future Oscar- worthy films.

He says, “I’m looking forward to the new Indiana Jones movie, and to the Harry Potter films being over with. I like them, but enough already!”
