Santa’s Reindeer Are Pregnant!

OTTAWA, Canada (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The word’s out: Dasher, Prancer, Donner and Vixen got knocked up!

That’s according to Canadian mammal expert Donna Naughton, who says that if Santa’s reindeer were real reindeer, they’d be females – and pregnant.

Naughton explains, “Male reindeer drop their antlers by the end of November, but the females keep theirs until June because they have to be able to fight males away from their food sources.”

And if having a sexual identity crisis isn’t enough for the reindeer, chances are they’re probably pregnant, because Naughton says 90 percent of female reindeer are fertilized during rutting season in October.

But don’t worry about the reindeer hurting their babies carrying around St. Nick and his bag of goodies – they’ve got magic on their side.

Says Naughton: “I’m not worried about them hurting themselves or their babies because they’re magic. I mean, they can fly, right? Size and weight are immaterial at that point.”
