Jason Bateman Teased With Wacky Jokes

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Jason Bateman was teased a lot as a kid, but he didn’t really get the jerky jokes.

According to New York-based gossip reporter Baird Jones, the Arrested Development star was taunted about his name growing up, and it took him a few years to realize what was so funny.

Bateman – who schmoozed with Jones at the reception for his new flick, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, last week – says kids used to get a kick out of calling him “Master Bateman.”

Bateman explains, “Growing up at summer camp the other kids started shouting out ‘Master Bateman’ to me, and in the beginning I couldn’t figure it out. I wasn’t that smart. I was so young when it started, it actually took me a lot of years to figure out why it was supposed to be such a funny joke.”

And when Bateman finally got the jerkin’ jab, his peers didn’t exactly get a rise out of him.

He adds, “When I understood it, I thought it was pretty funny. Probably the best one. I liked that one – very creative. I can appreciate a good joke.”
