Manners maven Barbara Pachter says despite the playful nature of Halloween, office employees should still be on their best behavior during the holiday, which means avoiding inappropriate costumes.
Says Pachter: Know your company policy on costumes before you show up wearing something thats overly sexual or downright offensive, like an Osama Bin Laden costume. You dont want to be the employee everyone is still talking about three weeks after Halloween.
Another tip is to avoid getting drunk at your company Halloween party, since it can have spooky results.
Pachter explains, If you get too drunk, youll say ridiculous things to your co-workers which will come back to haunt you. I knew of a guy who got so drunk that he cursed out his boss, who fired him on the spot. On Monday, the guy couldnt figure out why he couldnt get into his office. He had completely blacked-out and forgotten he got fired!
